Garys DWI Trial Delayed Until November

Former University of New Mexico basketball star Dairese Garys DWI trial was postponed Tuesday until November. Garys attorney, Robert Cooper, told Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court Judge Christina P. Argyres he had not yet been able to interview one of three police officers scheduled to testify against Gary in the case. Argyres allowed more time for Cooper to conduct the interview. Gary pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated DWI and reckless driving after he was arrested May 8. Police said he crashed into some mailboxes outside a northeast Albuquerque apartment complex and showed signs of intoxication. Gary, whose UNM career was cut short when he tore the ACL in his right knee in the MWC tournament last season, started in 130 consecutive games. He did not play in either of the teams two games in the National Invitation Tournament. The 6-foot-2 guard also had the teams highest grade-point average. He has remained with the program and is serving as a graduate assistant this season. The DWI trial for Lobo junior Chad Adams is scheduled for next month.
